The art of conversation and the ‘Big Talk’ movement

In the digital age, we have the technology to reach hundreds of people.

We can connect quickly and overcome time zones and thousands of kilometres.

But, for many people, it means meaningful face-to-face conversation is happening less often.

We're also living in an age of polarisation where snap headlines, opinion-packed social media posts and polarising personalities like Donald Trump encourages people to quickly pick camps.

The bridge between that – understanding peoples' perspectives and really listening - can be conversation.

Christine Layton explores the art of conversation, the quirks of Australian English and the growing movement in Perth to skip the small talk.

Guests:

Ashley McCole - facilitator of the Big Talk Perth Meetup group

Justine Brosnan - founder of Perth Conversation Club

Fiona Brooks - Warm Data Lab co-host
