Digital services for connected cars are a commodity in the developed world, whereas in emerging markets, their potential remains untapped. This even though most potential customers in these emerging markets own smartphones, and use digital solutions to facilitate their everyday lives.    OEMs need to establish and continually improve their digital services in these regions, to ensure market share and build brand loyalty. It’s been a busy few days for WirelessCar as our team explores the latest trends and technologies at Auto China 2024 in Beijing. This year, automotive OEMs and suppliers are showcasing a range of innovations, from AI-enabled driving systems to China-specific models and localized innovations. Electrification and advanced mobility solutions remain in focus. The majority of new car models are MPV or off-road, with a high number of new PHEVs on display as well.   As the automotive industry continues to shift towards more sustainable, intelligent and connected mobility solutions, the importance of innovative tech, advanced EV services, and smart technologies adapted to the specific needs of local markets will only grow. Last night, around a 100 incredible women gathered at WirelessCar for an evening of networking and empowering insights at the Women in IT meetup.🌟 The atmosphere was warm and the room buzzed with conversations. When our speakers, including Samaneh Utter from Women in IT (kvinnor.it) and our own Jessica Nymark, Leanne Duong-Rutter, and Priyadharshini Viswanathan, took the stage, they shared a wealth of knowledge on diverse topics like Cyber Security, trends within digitalization, personal experiences as women within the IT industry and much more. Priyadharshini Viswanathan captivated us all with her personal journey titled "From Village Girl to Empowered Woman." In today's automotive ecosystem, the goals of key stakeholders are not always aligned when it comes to eCall.   OEMs need to prioritize marketability while Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) need to ensure efficiency and accountability. Add to this legislative demands that can force everyone down the same path, limiting innovation and the opportunities from technological advancements.    How can we do better?   WirelessCar’s Safety & Security product area has a clear commitment: helping call center agents and PSAPs get the best possible context from connected car data to help customers in moments of anxiety and distress. Our approach is to chip away at friction points and blockers, and to use data to get the right help to the correct location at the right time for more incidents.   Where can digital services help?   📍Firstly, the digital services themselves can package up the vehicle data, add context, and present it in a clearer manner.   📍Secondly, TPS eCall call center providers can build on their existing PSAP relationships to offer new ways to share data.    Many thanks to Connected Vehicle Systems Alliance (COVESA) for inviting me to speak at this year’s event in Gothenburg alongside other industry experts within Safety and Security.
