In 2013 Attard was a visiting lecturer in the Department of Sacred Scripture, Hebrew and Greek of the Faculty of Theology at the University of Malta. In 2014 he became a part-time Resident Academic, and in 2016 a full-timer. His area of expertise is the Old Testament.
As a full-time Senior Lecturer, Attard is presently Head of Department of Sacred Scripture, Hebrew and Greek and the Dean of the Faculty of Theology. He served as Erasmus+ Coordinator of the Faculty and is presently a collaborator of the Editorial Board of the Polish Collectanea Theologica and of the journal of Theology and Philosophy of Education. He has contributed to the work of the Commission for the Revision of the Bible in Maltese and is an academic member of the Malta Bible Foundation. He has also presented papers at conferences in Leuven, Banská-Bystrica, Warsaw, Bangalore, Athens, Finland, Oxford and Pécs.
